District of Central Saanich Response

The District of Central Saanich activated our Emergency Operations Centre on March 10. Activating the EOC provides a mechanism to centralize planning and coordinate communications. It is important to recognize the District is not the lead agency on COVID-19 (coronavirus) and will continue to take direction from the Province and Island Health. Staff are working to reduce any disruptions to District operations and to ensure regular updates. At this time, the EOC will operate out of the Central Saanich Municipal Hall during regular business hours with a primary focus on maintaining situational awareness and information sharing related to the COVID-19 situation.

Our Facilities

To ensure the health and safety of our first responders, staff and community we are temporarily restricting public access to:

  • Fire Station 1 on Keating Cross Road *by appointment only
  • Municipal Hall *by appointment only

  • Public Works Yard *deliveries only

The Central Saanich Cultural Centre in Brentwood Bay is leased to different user groups. At this time the Centre for Active Living 50+, Panorama Recreation programs, and the Greater Victoria Public Library are closed.

The public washroom at Verdier Park is open. We have increased cleaning and ask that all users practice optimal hygiene.

Council Meetings and Public Hearings

Council meetings will continue so Council can move regular business forward.

As the Municipal Hall is closed to the public, for the time being, all Council meetings are being broadcast live here.

If you wish to submit a comment or question to Council for the meeting, you can email to municipal.hall@csaanich.ca or deliver via the drop box at the front door prior to 12:00 noon on the day of the meeting. Submissions regarding Public Questions will be read aloud at the meeting. Your question(s) may have to be summarized to fit within the allotted time.

The District is rescheduling public hearings until a later date when all those with an interest are able to attend.
