Staff Wellness Survey - COVID 2021

Our first Staff Wellness Survey was launched one year ago as a result of COVID. The survey was sent to all staff of the District and Police Service.

2020 Summary

  • 44 staff completed during June 2020
  • 96% said work is 'business as usual' or 'a mix but working out'
  • Almost all feel the current model is sustainable for the coming months
  • What's helping: Flexibility of working from home; Supportive management
  • What's challenging: Learning new ways of working; Wanting improved physical workspace; Balancing family life
  • What new ways of working staff wanted to hang on to:  Flexibility to work from home part of the time or occasionally; More services online;  Increased awareness of hand cleaning and personal space;  Weekly sanitizing vehicles
  • Going forward: Continued EOC emails; More communication (understanding why decisions are made, regular check ins with supervisor, in-person chance to ask questions); More emphasis on workplace space boundaries, sharing rooms, etc,; More support for mental health

As a result of the last survey, there has been a greater emphasis on education and supports for mental health, the EOC has continued to prioritize communications and focus on COVID safety in the workplace; staff have created more web-based forms; and facilities has improved communal spaces to encourage staff to take breaks.
